MOTHER JONES COMES TO RICKMAN'S STORE.

KIND HEARTS, MEET LARA CHEW, AKA MOTHER JONES, THE MOST DANGEROUS WOMAN IN AMERICA.  MOTHER IS CELEBRATING HER 100TH BIRTHDAY, AND IT SEEMS TO BE THE APPROPRIATE TIME TO TO DO A SUMMING UP OF HER LIFE. SHE TALKS ABOUT THE LOSS OF HER FAMILY, THE CHICAGO FIRE AND THE HAYMARKET STREET RIOTS.  IN ADDITION, SHE GIVES A SPIRITED COMMENTARY ON HER CONTROVERSIAL WORK AS A UNION ORGANIZER IN WEST VIRGINIA, PENNSYLVANIA, COLORADO AND THE CAROLINAS.  "I ALWAYS STOOD IN THE FRONT LINES WHERE THE GUNS WERE AND ME WITH NOTHING BUT A SMART MOUTH AND A HAT PIN."  THIS IS LARA'S THIRD APPEARANCE IN "MOTHER JONES," AND SHE IS SCHEDULED TO REPEAT THE MONOLOGUE AT THE JACKSON COUNTY LIBRARY IN SEPTEMBER.  THIS PERFORMANCE WILL BE SPONSORED BY THE JACKSON COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL.
