THE LOVELY LADIES OF COOSA CREEK

This week, I went down to the North Georgia hills to tell stories to the Circle of Friends in Coosa Creek. I didn't know what to expect and had a hard time finding the place. What I found was some 30 ladies who make quilts. As near as I can tell, the meet once each month and treat themselves to a "tea" complete with fancy and exotic pastries, herbal tea and and fruit. They dress for the occasion and wear big hats. However, there is more going on here than meets the eye. The meeting began with a report on all of the people in the community who were experiencing health problems and what the Circle of Friends was doing about it. I gathered that this included hospital visitations, medical supplies and gifts. This photo is of three ladies while behind me are some thirty more, all dressed to the nines and talking, talking, talking. I had a great time. I am a little uncertain as to where I was. I went beyond Blairsville, down "old 76" and across the Coosa and Nottley creeks. Peaceful fields, pastures and quiet....something that we have lost in my world, I'm afraid. I think we could do with a few "Circle of Friends" in my region!
