JACK, FRESH FROM HIS BATH

After tangling with the resident groundhog, Jack needed professional care. Tim, the Pet Groomer gave him three baths, removed six ticks, and cleaned out his ears. When I brought him home, he smelled good and looked nifty, so I took his picture. It is a good thing that I did.Thirty minutes later, he was in the garden wallowing in red dirt and giving little yips of pleasure.

  1. That Jack is a real ham when he sitting in his favorite place huh? He looks pretty happy in the car, maybe you should have left in there! Nah...dogs love to get dirty! I put Sweet Land on my Netflix list!Visit my blog and see my chicks!! :)

  2. My favorite part of any dog bath is watching the dog wallow around trying to get back its 'dog smell' and wondering why we humans insist on getting rid of the wonderful smells they worked so hard to gain.

Sorry to hear Jack had a run-in with a ground hog. My grandpa used to have a pet ground hog (free running outside...he chose to live there) and a yard full of rescued dogs. Those poor dogs all had shreds for ear edges from tussling with the ground hog.

  3. Jack looks good after his trip to the salon. He's lucky he didn't get hurt as a groundhog can do some serious damage. My Jack Russell used to love and mix it up with them and after the battle was over she would submerge her cut and bloodied face in the branch and blow bubbles letting the cool water wash away the hurt.

  4. Jack is the sweetest dog...I enjoyed being with him this past weekend...and...of course... you too. The white squirrels are still looking for Jack.

  5. Well, thank you kind hearts. Jack and I are home now and we intend to sack out and watch a movie tonight. I think we are going to try "Mad Men" tonight.

  6. Watching "Mad Men" was a mistake. I'm sure that this is a wonderful series, but I'm just not in the mood for all of those arrogant, devious, sexy people that thrive in a world that I find offensive. I was set up to get the whole series from Netflex, but I just cancelled it. Right now I think I am badly in need of stories that are set in the natural world and populated by trustworthy folks who share my values. I didn't see anybody like that in "Mad Men."

  7. What a sweetie - *smiling*

Gary - thank you for the review - I saw it in Smoky Mountain News - the heading gave me such a lift. Then City Lights emailed me about a signing there. Thank you for again for such a thoughtful review...
