Last Saturday (April 10th at 4:00)Lessie Williams, the "Godmother of Gospel"held forth at the City Lights Bookstore for an enthralled audience of local fans. She was assisted by her son who is a music major at Mars Hill, and in short order, she had hands clapping and toes tapping. Every time I hear her, I think that I need to write a one-woman show about Harriet Tubman and give Lessie the part of Harriet.
This kind of music can be great. Is she available on YouTube or somewhere online?
